Aaron Montana is enjoying his time as a paramedic, having finally left the corporate world for a more meaningful job. Bailey Carson knows she will get her big break in country music someday soon, and working at the honky tonk is just a way to pay the bills. The fact the fireman that comes in on a regular basis to see her sing makes her blood boil with desire is immaterial is just a plus.
This story was a quick, hot read. The characters are strong, determined to make something of their lives, even though in drastically different ways. I found the ending to be too quick and pat, explaining things in a few paragraphs, leaving even more questions unanswered than answered. I think I might have enjoyed the book better had it been longer, and we had more time to get to know the characters and the reasons behind some of their choices.
