Love and War in Lost River – Genre: Historical, Adult – 4 Wands
Lois and Jim Campbell love their home in Lost River, even if
soldiers uprooted the Modoc Indians so that they and other settlers
could move in. Now that the Modoc are coming back to try and retake
the land Jim and Lois have to decide to stay and fight, or to leave.
I found this story to be a nice read. It is set in 1873 and deals
with a reality I can only imagine. I enjoyed the quick read and its
happy ending.
Kayla Finds Her Way – Genre: Adult, Modern – 2.5 Wands
Kayla discovers a lot of truths about herself after she meets John
Blacksmith. This story wasn't as enjoyable for me as the first one.
I was left feeling unsatisfied. I liked how it seemed as if Kayla
was a great granddaughter of Lois and Jim, but the rest of the story
just seemed to be gratuitous sex.
