Nemu is half-human, half-water faery, but all heart. When she finds
Ambiorix, a wounded Roman soldier, she nurses him back to health and
helps him get back to his camp even though the Romans are her
enemies. Caledonia is one place the Romans want to take over and
they have slaughtered many of the druids and Celts in their quest.
Of Water and Dragons is a fantasy with a bit of everything. Magic,
battles, love, and deceit are only a few things you will find in
here. There is some female/female action, but it is part of the plot
and is necessary for what happens later. I felt that the motivation
for both characters was missing in the beginning. From the time
Ambriorix wakes in Nemu's home until she leaves him at his camp,
there seems to be only minimal sparks between the two. Before he
learns what Nemu is, and as he is about to reach camp isn't enough
for me to believe that each is madly in love with the other. When
both leave their homes to search for the other I was shocked. The
things Nemu sacrificed were greater than any interest they'd shown
to each other. That said, the story was good, the plot moved along
fairly quickly and was unique in both plot and delivery.
