Seraphina Mason is an empath; a blessing she hasn’t found much use for, aside from scaring off the one man she's ever loved, and predicting an oncoming snowstorm. April finds her in a remote cabin in New Hampshire, about as far from civilisation as she can get, preparing for the storm. She's just settling down for the night when there's a knock at the door and an ice-covered Jake Candellori (former lover) stumbles into the room: this isn't the kind of reunion Sera was expecting…
This is a sweet short story, with a degree of adult content. Sera's the kind of woman you wish you were - cutting up logs one moment and making homemade soup the next, before moving on to some hot sex. Jake is a gorgeous hunk of a hero, with a troubled past that puts the lovers' relationship in quandary. Despite the short story length, the characters, back-story and their emotional dilemmas are well developed and portrayed.
In summary, this is a good, sexy short with the kind of couple you want to reach a happy ending.
