Dan Corazon has been in the closet all his life. He is a construction worker with a pickup, how much more macho can you get? Stevie “Sunshine” Sanger has never made much of a secret of his sexual preferences. When Dan finds Stevie beaten and left for dead by a brutal john, he gives Stevie his protection, and his love. Stevie can’t believe his luck in finding Dan, but he knows a man like Dan is too good for an ex-prostitute like him.
I loved this book. Too often you read books that the couple decides they will overcome all, and you are expected to believe it will be easy. Not so, here. Dan and Stevie’s demons and fears are front and center, and are dealt with head on, letting us see them grow, both as individuals and as a couple. I put down this book with a smile on my face, knowing that this was a pair that was made to last.
Warning: There is some sexual violence related to Stevie’s profession.
