Selene scrimps and saves her money for a trip to South America that
she hopes will enable her to find herself. She also plans to have a
hot affair. Once there she meets Hudson, and an adventure ensues.
The publisher's description of this story says that it is an erotic
romance, but if you want to read a romance, this isn't a good
choice. The overall plot and theme of the book had promise, but it
was presented in a way that turned me off entirely. I found the
beginning very slow and would have put the book down if I hadn't had
to finish reading it. Selene begins the story reflecting on her
trip, how she saved her money, on her friend, on the actual journey,
then the hotel, and the beach. Once she contemplates the taxi's
seat, then thinks about the airplane, then returns to the taxi to
contemplate the man's uniform. Selene is someone I would hate if I
met her in person. She believes herself to be prettier and smarter
than most other women. She reflects on how she could have gone to
her choice of top colleges, but yet she is working for a minimal
wage, scrimping and saving to get by. I didn't like her view of men.
I felt she treated the young man and Hudson as toys. I personally
did not see her grow as an individual at all.
