When Madison Allcott's husband dies she turns to the person he
trusted the most, Galen Beaumont. Galen is vampyr, and he's spent
his life searching for love. When he meets Madison he realizes he
will do anything to protect her, and he hopes that she will return
his love. Can he convince her to marry him and become vampyr before
someone can destroy them?
The year may be 1890, but the heroine is feisty and doesn't take
orders from anyone. The plot was great and engaging, the sex was
fiery and graphic, and the suspense was done very well, but the
dialogue distracted me. In several instances the dialogue would go
on for a page or more without dialogue tags, and I found myself
having to go back and reread to figure out things. Like when a new
person entered a conversation and I didn't even know they were in
the room, or had entered until the conversation grew confusing and I
looked either ahead or back to see who was speaking. One other thing
that threw me was Galen's threat to face sunrise and death, yet he
explains the vampyr rules, and says the sun only weakens him.
