So you’ve decided to do a little snowmobiling while you’re on vacation. Sounds like fun. Do you have your list of essential gear?
Vacationing to Snowmobile or Snowmobiling While on Vacation?
If the plan is simply to go snowmobiling as an actual vacation your best bet might be to check out national parks or other prepackaged snowmobile vacation trips. You will still need to bring all of your warm clothing but essential snowmobiling gear will be supplied by the same place as where you rent your snowmobiles. Typically, travel planners or travel agencies can find these types of vacation packages for you but of course you can always create your own.
Got Snow?
If you’re lucky enough to have your own snowmobile and are looking forward to using it while you’re on vacation this winter be sure to pack the essentials. Warm clothing is a must… It should be fast drying and protect you from the cold and wet. Be sure to bring something to cover your hands, face and ears. Now let’s talk snowmobile gear. A sturdy, reliable helmet; thermal winter gloves or mittens; a tinted and clear visor for your helmet, goggles or sunglasses; warm, waterproof boots; a snowmobile suit or warm insulated parka and snow pants (or at least a couple of pairs of pants if no snow wear is available); wool socks; backpack or saddle bags; flares; snacks; first aid kit; matches or lighters; cell phone; flashlight; duct tape and a Swiss army knife. Extra clothing can be taken along if the weather seems threatening. And of course if you’re planning on going ice fishing be sure to bring along your fishing gear and a couple of thermoses of hot coffee or other hot drink or meal. Let’s see… Did we forget anything?
Oh and by the way don’t forget the snowmobile.
