Being the bibliophile I am, I just couldn't pass up the
opportunity to suggest a little spooky reading material for this October
31st. So before you head down to Blockbuster to rent another Nightmare
on Elm Street or Hellraiser, maybe swing by your local library for an
old-fashioned kind of scare.
Don't know what you pick? Here are a few tried and true
suggestions:
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington
Irving
A headless ghost haunts the residents of Sleepy Hollow.
Dracula by Bram Stroker
The book that first made vamps so popular, this is the
tale of a Victorian man who visits Transylvania and meets the
father of all vampires.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis
Stevenson
The original, and more suspenseful, version of the story
of a man with two very different personalities.
The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe
The thumping of this heart will be enough to keep you
awake all Halloween night.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly
The classic story of the mad scientist and the creature he
created.
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray
Bradbury
This is the story of two boys and the evil that grips
their hometown with the arrival of a carnival. This story is a
tale of the darker side of human nature.
Grimm's Grimmest by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
A collection of the original Grimm Brother's fairy tales…blood,
betrayal, horror and gore included. |

If you end up staying up all night, don't say I didn't
warn you!
