Pennie Morgan

"I don't know, it just needs something" Mrs. Rambler's worried note sends a shiver through the Inn.  The May Fair is upon us, the bar-b-q is up, the flags are flying, and she still isn't happy with the marquee's decor: "It just needs to be a bit more modern, if you see what I mean."  She wails to Eric, our gardener.

Eric smiles slowly, and gives a canny wink.  "I know just the person," he says, producing a neatly typed interview.  "I believe I might be able to persuade her to lend some advice...  Why don't you read this, in the meantime, Mrs. R?"

Mrs. Rambler isn't listening; she's already running her eyes over the interview sheet.

Eric kicks the mud from his boots, and heads inside in search of a certain Ms. Pennie Morgan...

1- If you have an alias or pen name, what is it?

I write under my own name. I was going to use a pen name but when my husband found out he had a fit and wanted me to use my name.

2- Tell us about yourself?

I am happily married to my best friend and we will celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary in June. We have 13 year old twins (boy and girl). He had three sons from a previous marriage and they have graced us with 10 grandchildren.

3- Anything special the readers should know about you?

I'm a home body. I would rather be home than anywhere else. When I do leave the house, I always have a book in my purse. After all, you never know when you will get stuck in traffic or have to wait somewhere.

4- How long have you been writing?

Only about a year. I never had the urge to try and get the voices out of my head, LOL. Last year I saw a posting for a new publisher that was running a contest so I got a couple of the voices out and gave them a story and low and behold they accepted it and it was published last July.

5- Where do you typically find your inspiration?

Lots of places… dreams, songs, daydreams, scenes as I'm driving. The story I'm working on now is of one of the secondary characters in Fantasies. He would not leave me alone until he got his story and his own woman.

6- What genre do you write in?

So far I have only written contemporary. I am flirting with an idea for a vampire book.

7- Who has influenced you in your writing?

My husband has been a big supporter even though he has not read any of my work yet. He didn't know I had written anything until Dream Man won the contest and was contracted. I also have several friends who are authors and very encouraging. One actually threatened to come and dig my last one out of my computer so she could read it.

8- What books do you have out?

All of my works are at Silk's Vault www.silksvault.com They include Dream Man, All I Want for Christmas which is part of the Holiday Between the Sheets, Tales Under the Mistletoe Anthology for Christmas. The newest was released on April 22nd as part of the Red Silk's Diary Volume 3, entitled Fantasies.

9- Are you doing any signing or appearances soon?

Not yet. My local librarian keeps asking me when I can have a signing. I tell her as soon as one comes out in print.

10- Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

Write, write, write and read, read, read. Just keep plugging away and if you submit and it gets rejected, send it to another publisher. DON'T GIVE UP!

11- Do you have a website or a blog?

http://penniemorgan.bravehost.com/

12- Do you prefer for your fans to mail or email you?

Email me. Since my email may be changing soon, check my website for where to send.

13- Other than being a writer, did you ever picture yourself doing anything else?

I never pictured myself as a writer and still have a hard time with that moniker. I consider myself a reader first and author second. I have always been a voracious reader and wanted to do something with books, preferably own a used book store. When I'm not writing, I proofread/edit for a couple epublishers. My "real" job is as a QA/editor for a medical transcription company. I have been a medical transcriptionist for 20 years and now do the editing which is a relief to my hands to not have to type hard for 8 hours a day.

14- If you had time off to do whatever you like, what would you do?

Sleep. I work nights and never seem to get enough sleep.

15- Is there a favorite author you haven't met that you'd like to?

The wonderful thing about the internet is being able to communicate with people you would never have the chance to meet otherwise. If I enjoy a book, I will usually find the author's website and drop them a note. It is always good to hear back from them. There are a few I would love to sit down and have coffee with and talk. Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, Mandy Roth, Michelle Pillow, Jaci Burton… This could become a long list.

16- If you have a book coming out soon or just out would you like to give us an excerpt?

My newest will be coming out on April 22nd and there is an excerpt on my website.
